It wasn't a perfect game, but I imagine most of us would still rate this one as pretty good, considering it's the first time we've won consecutive home games all season, and it all let us take the series against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles struck first on a homer in the opening inning by Hanley Ramirez, but Arizona responded in the second, courtesy of an error by the same. Another home-run, this one a two-run shot off the bat of Adrian Gonzalez made it 3-1 to the Dodgers, only for the Diamondbacks to respond with an RBI single by Chris Owings in the third, and a solo home-run by Cody Ross, his first of the year, to tie things up in the fourth. Another long-ball, this one off the bat of Eric Chavez in the bottom of the fifth, also scored Owings and gave the Diamnndbacks their first lead, and we held on from there to take the game and the series.

Josh Collmenter got the W, going 5.1 innings and allowing three runs on only four hits, mostly because two of those didn't come back. He also walked two and struck out three. The bullpen combined for 3.2 scoreless, though Brad Ziegler left them loaded in the eighth - he also hit Y*s**l P**g, so we'll give him a pass. It was a good day for the young guys in the line-up, with Owings and A.J. Pollock each getting three hits, and Ross had two, including his homer, as the Diamondbacks outhit the Dodgers 11-7 in total.

There's an off-day tomorrow, before we start another road-trip, this one going to St. Louis and New York, where we'll face the Mets. azshadowwalker should be along with the recap in a bit, so see you there!

Things will happen this afternoon. One team will score. Maybe the other team will as well, though I'm not guaranteeing that. There will probably be hits involved. Strikeouts are quite likely. After last night, that's about as far as I am prepared to go in predicting this afternoon's game.

It's the 10th anniversary of Randy Johnson's perfect game today. To mark the event, it was re-screened on Fox Sports Arizona last night, and caught a few chunks of that. Quite a contrast to the 25-run slugfest which preceded it at Chase Field, though the thing which stood out for me was nostly, "Man, how did we ever watch things in the days before high-definition?" It was like watching an animated GIF of proceedings. We are totally spoiled now. Oh, and before I forget, looks look this afternoon's game is the free one on MLB.tv, so if you're outside the team's territory, you can still watch it there.

I'm always uncertain after an offensive Armageddon like we saw last night. There's an argument that it should have given the Diamondbacks some momentum, especially teeing off as they did against the opposition ace. On the other hand, the more intuitive side of the brain is telling me they should have "saved some of those runs for today," even though the last pitcher used, against whom Goldie hit his second home-run, will be crouching behind the plate for Los Angeles this afternoon. Certainly, it has to have provided a psychological boost, particularly coming against a team who had owned us to that point.

Josh Collmenter's outings as a starter have been rather bumpy and uneven, so we'll see what he can do this afternoon, against former Diamondback Dan Haren. The latter has had his way with Arizona, winning his last three outings, and has been pretty damn good in most of his starts this season, proving to be a good pick-up for the Dodgers. A victory for us would put us at 3-3 on the homestand, against opponents who are above .500. After the 6-3 road-trip, it is a little bit of a step back, but I think I'd have settled for a split coming in, so won't argue much. Of course, a defeat would be another home series dropped; nine in a row, including Sydney. So, plenty to play for today.

azshadowwalker on the guest recap this afternoon - stick around for that.
