The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today they have recalled right-handed pitcher Jonathan Albaladejo from Triple-A Reno and placed left-handed pitcher Joe Saunders on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left shoulder (retro to June 17), according to D-backs Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Albaladejo, 29, was 3-1 with a 2.64 ERA (9 ER in 30.2 IP), 13 saves and a .190 (20-for-105) opponents average with the Aces in 2012. He ranks second among Pacific Coast League relievers in opponents average and is tied for third in saves. The hour of Bauer nears?

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced they have agreed to terms with first-round draft pick Stryker Trahan and 30 additional draft picks from the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, according to D-backs’ Director, Scouting Ray Montgomery. The D-backs have signed their first 6 picks, 8 of the first 10, 17 of the first 20 and 31 players total.

That's according to a D-backs press release. Looks like the new draft terms did indeed make things progress a lot faster than last year. [Hat-tip to Mike D]

"I'm going to be real direct about Stephen (Drew), I believe Stephen should have been out there playing before now. Frankly, I for one am disappointed. I'm going to be real candid and say I think Stephen and his representatives are more focused on where Stephen's going to be a year from now than going out and supporting the team that's paying his salary."

Ken Kendrick, speaking on XTRA 910. Well. So who's playing short for us next year? Because it doesn't look likely to be Drew now.

Dbacks announce they have retained RHP Brett Lorin by trading RHP Robby Rowland to the Pirates. Lorin was a Rule 5 pick who wasn't in position to make the team. Rowland was a '10 draftee. Rowland was looking at another year in extended. Wasn't slated to open year in South Bend rotation.

Minor League slugger Mike Jacobs has signed with the Diamondbacks.

Kevin Goldstein, via Twitter. What's most interesting is that last August, Jacobs was the first player to test positive for HGH. The Rockies released him, so seems like he'll have to serve his 50-game suspension before the first-baseman can join the Aces. [H/T Jeff Sullivan]
