The Arizona Diamondbacks have informed me today that Jim is no longer allowed to recap Taylor Clarke starts (a loud roar erupts from Snake Pit Towers in the West Valley). He wasn’t excellent today, but far better than what we’ve come to expect. Clarke actually managed to complete six innings today, a mark he hasn’t accomplished since back to back starts in the beginning of May. The only two runs he allowed today were solo home runs to Anthony Santander and Trey Mancini.
It was sufficient run prevention for the D’backs offense today who countered with two home runs of their own. Carson Kelly belted a three run jack in the bottom of the fourth and Ketel Marte added a solo shot in the sixth for good measure. Yoshihisa Hirano and Archie Bradley kept the game stressful loading the bases in the seventh and eighth, but didn’t feel like blowing the game and escaped each of those jams. Same can’t be said about Greg Holland who walked the only two batters he faced and failed to complete the ninth.
D’backs take the series finale 5-2. Full recap to follow when I return home.
