MLB: New York Mets at Arizona Diamondbacks Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Not the best evening for Patrick Corbin, continuing a trend of less than stellar starts we’ve been getting from him of late. A three run home run in the second inning became the difference in the game, though the Mets did add single tallies in the third and sixth. When you’re sitting at about 89 MPH with your fastball, you’re command needs to be on point, and it just wasn’t for Patrick tonight. Kept grooving pitches, and the Mets made sure to smack them.

The offense wasn’t much better. Nothing to back this up beyond my own eyes, but it seemed almost everyone was grounding out right to the infielders. The one run they did manage was courtesy of Nick Ahmed and Paul Goldschmidt. Ahmed smacked a triple to right field and Goldy brought him home on a Fielder’s Choice. Beyond that, a pretty quiet night in the bottom halves of the innings.

Full recap to follow when Mr. McLennan gets back from the ball park!
