Well, this was one heck of a game, that’s for sure. The offense for both teams broke out in a big way tonight. The Diamondbacks scored six in the first, two in the third and fourth, and three in the seventh. John Jay got his first hit as a Diamondback and then two more, including a three-run homer. Goldy got on base four times, two hits and two walks. Also getting multiple hits, Murphy and Ketel Marte.
On the pitching side for the Dbacks, things were less great. Clay Buchholz had his first bad outing in Sedona Red, well technically teal, but who’s counting? He was in and out of trouble for most of the evening, but didn’t escape in the fourth, when he gave up six runs of his own to cut the lead from eight to two. Then the bullpen came in and gave up single tallies in the fifth and seventh innings.
In the end, it wasn’t the prettiest win, but it was a win and that’s what counts. Full recap to follow
