September results
Spin the Wheel o’ Outcomes! Where will it land? Last time we checked in, the D-backs had rebounded at least somewhat after a terrible July that saw them go 8-16. While August was still a losing month, the 12-16 record wasn’t bad considering they started off the month by losing nine games in a row. They came back thereafter to get themselves back above Mt. .500, and keep themselves in the hunt for a wild-card spot. But were people convinced by the team’s uptick in fortunes?

Normally, the shape of the response is a bell-curve, albeit one which is skewed to an appropriate degree. That is not the case here, with a “double dip” due to a significant minority of people who were “not confident in the slightest”. That 14% is considerably lower than it was at the start of August, however, when the equivalent figure was 20%. Indeed, #1-3 all dropped, totaling less than 29% this time out, compared to 48% the previous month. At the other end, the upper trio more than doubled, going from 14% to 29%, as the D-backs finished August strongly, All told, the average improved from 3.94 to 4.75, though that’s still lower than at the same point in 2022 (5.14).
Below, you can see the breakdown for the past 12 polls’ results, followed by the line graph showing the trends over this and previous seasons.

October poll
The regular season came to an end yesterday, and the bottom line is, the D-backs will be going to the post-season for the first time since 2017. Their final record was 84-78, a ten-game improvement over the previous mark, albeit one of the lowest win totals for a post-season club ever. They also “backed into the playoffs” (TM), losing their last four regular season contests. But 84 wins is still more than most fans expected at the beginning of the year, and let the post-season fall where it may. So, on the eve of the wild-card series in Milwaukee, how do you feel about the Diamondbacks?
That would be what the poll is for. As ever, feel free to explain your choice in the comments, especially if it has changed from the previous one.
