Greetings
Hopefully I can finish what I start and don't end up being called away (or the game ends up being a snooze fest). Reno begins the home portion of their season schedule at 1PM Arizona time against the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.
According to MLB Pipeline, the top 13 prospects in the Giants system are below Double A and only 3 of the Top 30 are at the AAA level so likely won't see much in the lines of talent today at least on their side.
Both teams have posted their lineups but in what has become an annoying habit throughout the minors of late is the starting pitchers have not yet been announced. You'd think with the game starting in 20 minutes they'd know who it is by now unless they've offered one day contracts to a couple of beer vendors and they're trying to find them a uniform.
Sacramento does have a face familiar to Dbacks' fans in their lineup today as Wyatt Mathieson is hitting in the cleanup spot as the DH.
Sacramento Lineup:
- Luis Gonzalez 8
- David Villar 3
- Jaylen Davis 7
- Wyatt Mathiesen 10
- Jason Vosler 4
- Austin Dean 9
- Alex Blandino 5
- Ricardo Genevis 2
- Arquimedes Gamboa 6
Reno Lineup:
- Alek Thomas 8
- Jake Hager 6
- Matt Davidson 3
- Stone Garrett 10
- Buddy Kennedy 5
- Braden Bishop 9
- Stuart Fairchild 7
- Grayson Greiner 2
- Camden Duzenek 4
Update: Starters have been announced, Tyler Gilbert for Reno and Michael Plassmeyer for Sacramento. Plassmeyer is a 6'2" 25 year old lefty originally drafted by Seattle in 2018. He went to Tampa as part of the Mike Zunino trade then went to San Fran last June for Matt Wisler.
