AAA: Reno Aces 3, Tacoma Rainiers 4
This game stayed close from beginning to end, with the largest lead being two runs. Luis Frias struggled with control in this game, but allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts over 4 2⁄3 innings. Reno’s offense continued to blow opportunities, going 1 for 11 w/ RISP and stranding 10 on base. The worst one was blowing a bases loaded opportunity in the 3rd inning that could have turned a 2-run inning into a monster inning. Tacoma would take a 4-2 lead in the 6th, when Luis Castillo served up back to back home runs and their bullpen was able to limit Reno to just a solo homer from Juniel Querecuto over the final 4 innings.
AA: Amarillo Sod Poodles 10, Tulsa Drillers 2
There were only three certainties in life yesterday: death, taxes, and Ryne Nelson making good starts somewhere in the D-backs system. The team’s best RHP and #5 overall prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, turned in another spectacular start with 7 innings of 1 run ball on 5 hits, 0 walks, and 9 strikeouts. Nelson’s dominance on the mound was somewhat overshadowed by the Sod Poodles’ unrelenting offense. Despite Nelson allowing a run in the first, Amarillo answered with 2 in the second and never looked back. Starting the scoring was Geraldo Perdomo’s 4th homer of the year.
Amarillo continued to ramp up the pressure as Nelson continued to post zeros on the board. Every Amarillo starter picked up a hit in this game with Perdomo and Dominic Canzone being the main run producers. They took advantage of the many opportunities they had, going 5 for 15 w/ RISP and got a bit of help from the opposing team’s battery with the team scoring a run each on a wild pitch and a passed ball.
High A: Hillsboro Hops vs. Tri-City Dust Devils

I’m not sure where to start in this game. There were too many mistakes on the defensive side of the ball, as the pitchers gave up 15 hits and 10 walks but also 5 errors in the field. Both teams were sloppy with control, as the game as a total of 18 walks with plenty of them crossing home plate. Just the type of game that everyone just needs to flush in order to prepare for the next game.
