PYW’s 2021: Week 24

Last week, I asked you to get back into the Olympic spirit by telling me what Olympic sports Diamondbacks players would excel at. In retrospect, I realize that I never put the stipulation on the prompt that you couldn’t say baseball, and yet... no one did said it. I find that incredibly telling. Anyway, with the only red comment this week, gzimmerm takes the top spot on the podium!

Painfully accurate, though I think at the rate the Diamondbacks’ defense has deteriorated over the past couple seasons, we might have a whole football team... In second place, we find Hacks!

Harsh but fair. Rounding out our top three this week, we have kilnborn!

I think the entire pitching staff could excel at running a restaurant, specializing in meatballs.

They could serve up meatballs in every form. Meatballs and spaghetti, of course, but meatballs in pesto, meatballs sandwiches, sweet and sour meatballs, meatball fried rice, meatball chowmein, meatball soup, meatball pizza, stuffed meatballs with cabbage…. But their signature dish would be a big presentation, where they dim the lights and bring out a tee. They’d set the meatball up on the tee, pour a little brandy over top and set it on fire.

They’d really knock it out of the park with that one. (2 recs)

It’s close folks! Only four points separate kilborn in the lead and gzimmerm in third place, and sandwiched right between is FatElvis. I haven’t checked, but this has got to be one of the closest scenarios we’ve ever had going into the final week.

And yes, folks, this is the final week. One last prompt stands between someone and their trip to the Finale where they’ll face off against Jack for the Pit Your Wits 2021 Championship, and all the fame and glory that entails!
