Arizona Diamondbacks 3, Los Angeles Dodgers 5: Baseball was Played

You’ll have to forgive me. I’m two days out from my wedding. Final de-stressing with alcohol and family took place at a sports bar tonight. Outside of a few brief moments I don’t have much of an idea as to what happened in tonight’s game. I think that calls for a beercap? Is that how these things work?

Beer #1: 25 oz. Modelo Especial

I honestly can’t write a quality recap of this game tonight. The wedding is at the forefront of my thoughts. Edbigghead and Turambar will both be there as groomsmen. I couldn’t ask for a better pair of friends in the two of them, both of whom I met through this community. They are two of the best people I have had the privilege to call my friends, and I am grateful that they will be there for my big day.

Merrill Kelly made his first start tonight in over a month coming off of the COVID_19 injured list. How were his mechanics? I haven’t the slightest clue. He went four and two thirds innings and gave up ten hits and two walks, so I’m going to assume not that great. Los Angeles got to work against him in the bottom of the second with four straight baserunners to score the first run of the game.

Beer #2: 25 oz. Modelo Especial

The Brute Squad knows that I have this weird suspicion about drinking certain beers when the D’backs are playing a given team. No Coors against the Rockies. No Miller against the Brewers. No Modelo against the Padres. I realized tonight don’t have a particular beer off limits against the Dodgers. Maybe Corona? I hardly drink that as it is...

Henry Ramos was the only noteworthy player that stood out to me in my lack of attention to this game. Both of his big moments tonight both at the plate and in the field came in the fourth inning. Ramos hit a two out single off of Julio Urias with runners on third and second to give Arizona a two run lead.

Los Angeles counterstruck in the bottom half of the fourth with a single from Justin Turner and double from Will Smith to begin the inning. Both of them were brought in on a groundout from Cody Bellinger and a single from Gavin Lux giving the Dodgers a 3-to-2 lead. Mookie Betts laced a two out liner to Henry Ramos in left field. Ramos made an impressive highlight reel catch, tracking the ball down at the warning track, crashing into the wall while containing the ball in his glove for the final out of the inning.

Beer #3: 12 oz. Modelo Especial

In lieu of doing a mother and son dance at the reception, my mom will be given an open mic to freely roast myself and my bride for 5-10 minutes. At this point of the night, she is a few Tito’s & lemonade deep, slaphappy just thinking about the havoc she is going to unleash on Friday. It was my idea to let her to do the roast instead of a dance. She had me at a young age, so our relationship is closer to two best friends than a traditional mother-son relationship. She’ll have a great time breaking balls in front of an audience.

Merrill Kelly was chased from this game after a solo home run from Max Muncy and a pair of two out singles from Turner and Smith. Sean Poppen leaves the bases loaded coming on in relief. Christian Walker made it a one run game with his eighth home run of the season in the top of the 6th. That came off of reliever Phil Bickford, who you couldn’t convince me was not a car dealership owner with a name like that.

Beer #4: 12 oz. Modelo Especial

That’s the extent of this recap for me. Add your own flavor and commentary in the... commentary section. Wish me luck on my walk down the aisle. Hopefully my lovely bride does not come to her senses and leave me before that blissful moment in front of our family and friends.

Two important developments in the CoTD above. Be on the lookout for the upcoming profanity laced GDT. Also, DC has announced he will not be there, so you even have the opportunity to have the most comments in the thread too. F#(& yes!
