Diamondbacks Minor League Recap 9/8/2021

The Diamondbacks Minor League affiliates combined to go 1-1.

AA: Amarillo Sod Poodles 6, Tulsa Drillers 5 (F/10)

Brandon Pfaadt would yield 4 solo homers over 5 innings, but otherwise managed to strike out 8 hitters in this game. On the flip side, the Sod Poodles would counter with a 4-run second inning. With 1 out, four straight hitters would reach on a single, walk, 2-run triple, and 2-run homer. With the score tied at 4-4 after 5 innings, Amarillo would take the lead on an RBI single from Dominic Canzone in the 6th, only to see it go in the 8th. The game would remain tied until the Manfred Innings, in which Blake Workman was able to pitch around a jam with 3 infield flyouts. In the bottom of the 10th, Stone Garrett drove a double to score Jancarlos Cintron from 2nd to walk it off.

High A: Hillsboro Hops vs. Tri-City Dust Devils

Cancelled, COVID-19

Low A: Visalia Rawhide 2, Lake Elsinore Storm 4

Despite a weak day at the plate, Visalia carried a 2-1 lead after 6 innings. There were plenty of blown chances as Visalia went 2 for 13 w/ RISP. They did get solid starting pitching, as Joe Elbis limited the Storm to 3 hits, 1 run, and struck out 5 in 5 innings. The bullpen ultimately was unable to hold up at the end as Josh Swales got hammered in the 7th-8th innings for 4 runs on 6 hits in 2 23 innings. Hugh Fisher would get the final 4 outs without issue, but the damage was done.
