PYW’s 2021: Week 21

What’s more likely than a Tyler Gilbert no-no? Turns out a lot of things!

Last week, I asked you to give me something that was more likely than Tyler Gilbert throwing a no hitter on his very first Major League start, and as always, you delivered! Two comments went red, but only one is our winner this week, and no bonus points if you guess that once again it’s Jack Sommers!

Gilberts NO NO was the 2nd most rare thing that night. The first was that Torey didn’t pull him from the game (6 recs)

This is just simply factual as anyone could tell you. I really do wonder when he would have pulled him if it wasn’t for Mike Fetters speaking a little sense in the moment.

In second place, reaching the podium for the second straight week, gzimmerm!

Manny Machado winning the 2021 Heart & Hustle Award (4 recs)

That’s just... mean... I love it!

In third place, we find FatElvis04!

That school in Tucson winning a football national title. Not this year. I mean ever. #ForksUp

Hey, ya’ll remember the saying about don’t shoot the messenger? It’s me, the messanger.

Let’s go to the standings, shall we?

Standings

Player Recs
Player Recs
Jack Sommers 18
kilnborn 15
FatElvis04 14
NikT77 12
gzimmerm 7
AzDbacksFanInDC 6
Diamondhacks 6
Justin27 3

Jack Sommers moves into the lead, however, since Jack’s already secured a spot in the Finale, kilnborn retains their hold on the second finalist position. Anther podium finish puts FatElvis right behind kilnborn, though, in what is shaping up to be a close race to the finish.

Let’s see... the bullpen still is awful, the defense isn’t much better, Ketel Marte has turned out to be a method actor who’s next role is as AJ Pollock, but I want to be positive* this week (positivity not guaranteed). What is one thing the Diamondbacks are actually good at? Go!
