The Diamondbacks Minor League affiliates combined to a 1-2 record.
AA: Amarillo Sod Poodles 3, Midland RockHounds 2
Brandon Pfaadt’s first AA start was decently solid, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits, 2 walks, and 9 strikeouts. Eduardo Diaz was the spark plug on offense, hitting a 2nd inning solo homer and a go-ahead RBI double in the 7th. Amarillo’s bullpen was strong in this game, delivering 3 2⁄3 scoreless innings. Tyler Holton pitched the first 1 2⁄3 out of the pen, picking up the win when Amarillo gained the lead. Scoreless outings by Mack Lemieux and Matt Brill were able to bring this win home.
High A: Hillsboro Hops 3, Spokane Indians 4
Andy Yerzy’s 2-homer game accounted for all of Hillsboro’s runs, as the rest of the line-up failed to pull their own weight. Marcos Tineo gave up 3 runs (1 earned) over 6 innings on 7 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. The game remained tied at 3-3 until the bottom of the 8th, when Nick Snyder would cough up the go-ahead run.
Low A: Visalia Rawhide 7, Fresno Grizzlies 10
Despite a strong offensive day at the plate, a big inning against them on the mound would put Visalia in an impossible hole. Adrian Del Moral would allow 3 runs in 4 2⁄3 innings, taking the loss when the bullpen decided that being good was not a thing. Jose Santamaria got plastered for 6 runs in the 6th inning and it went downhill from there. Visalia put up a spirited rally late, scoring 5 times between the 8th and 9th inning for a more “respectable” score.
