Diamondbacks News

San Diego 2, Arizona 3

Madison Bumgarner went 6 2/3 , allowing only a pair of runs on a Wil Myers seventh inning homer. Ketel Marte got off his homerless streak. Daulton Varsho contributed two RBI hits, including his first career walk-off RBI, hit, and home run. Arizona is now guaranteed to split the series at worst, and could still take three out of four for the series by winning this evening.

Varsho Having Fun

Daulton Varsho provided the dramatic blow for the Diamondbacks on Friday night. In 30 games since July 2, Varsho has a triple slash of .259/.375/.519, supported by three doubles, six home runs, and 16 RBI. IN his last 22 games, he’s been even better.

Bumgarner Holds the Line

Madison Bumgarner refused to break on Friday, holding the Padres scoreless through six. When he finally bent a little and allowed a Wil Myers two-run home run, the blow merely tied the game. The bullpen came on with two away in the seventh and tossed zeroes on the board the rest of the way.

Diamondbacks Call-Up Wendelken

The Diamondbacks’ newest waiver wire selection joined the team just in time to witness Friday night’s festivities.
