PYW’s 2021: Week 19

The Olympics are over, so now let’s see what sports we are adding next time around!

Last week, I asked you for suggestions on new sports to add to the Olympics next time they are held. Lots of great responses, and lots of recs! which is always nice to see. Despite how many great responses we got, however, there can only be one winner, and this week it’s FatElvis04!

Bowling. The Olympics needs a sport where its acceptable to eat a burger and drink beer during a game. (6 recs)

I would like to just say that it is pure coincidence the picture I chose for the lead art. I typed in trophy to the search tool as always and it was one of the first that came up. Destiny!

In second place, we find our current leader, kilnborn!

Competitive sneezing. Bonus points for keeping your eyes open. Automatic disqualification if your eyes pop out. (5 recs)

I’m intrigued by this. What is the scoring metric? Are the athletes going for distance of spray? Area covered? Audience members infected with COVID? I have questions!

In third place, even though he assured me he never wins when he participates, is DC!

Drunk typing competition (4 recs)

While I know this is for the Olympics, and thus a national team, I do feel like every SB Nation site should be able to compete as their own country for this. No actual nations would make it out of the Prelims...

Standings

Player Recs
Player Recs
kilnborn 15
FatElvis04 11
NikT77 10
Jack Sommers 8
AzDbacksFanInDC 4
Diamondhacks 4

With their strong second place finish, kilnborn extends their lead. However, with his six rec performance, FatElvis makes a push for second, vaulting over both NikT77 and first half finalist Jack.

This week was the Field of Dreams game in Iowa between the Yankees (boooooooo!) and the White Sox. I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually a lot of fun, so good for Manfred for making this one happen. We’ve got to keep those sweet, sweet ratings coming, though, so this week, your challenge is to come up with the next winning gimmick game for MLB and FOX to nationally televise. Go!
