PYW’s 2021: Week 14

The Final Week of the First Half!

Appleton Police’s Jon Nicolaison (13) checks out his second place trophy during the Major Baseball City Championship game Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Scheels USA Youth Sports Complex in Appleton Dan Powers via Imagn Content Services, LLC

Last week, I asked you to come up with some new gameday giveaways for our beloved Diamondbacks and hoooooooo boy you roasted ‘em! None more so than the guy who actually has to occasionally see them face to face, unlike the rest of us. Jack Sommers takes first place this week with 9 recs!

For the ultimate in enhanced fan experience We are giving out Diamondbacks Logo Blindfolds during our next homestand. When the play on the field gets too ugly to watch, just slip these on for the best fan experience in baseball. Youll get the added bonus of getting to know what it feels like to be a D-backs hitter with runners in scoring position! This quote is followed by a picture of a sleepmask with a Diamondbacks logo printed and the caption Diamondbacks blindfold the ultimate fan experience

In second place, Hacks also came out blazing with one of the most accurate and harsh assessments of the team that I’ve ever seen in the entries of this contest.

Sorry ish, this team has Game Giveaways covered …usually in the first inning (5 recs)

Lovullo should print that out and hang it in the locker room until the team gets their sh*t together...

And rounding out the top three for this week, NikT77!

Diamondback branded barf bags (3 recs)

Short. Sweet. To the point. Much like most of the attention I’ve been giving to this team in the past couple months. Now let’s take a look at the final standings of the first half!

I know I said two weeks were left in the season last week, but on further review of the schedule and making the realization that next week is my anniversary vacation with my wife, I’m going to end the first half here. Next week will be our All Star Break, and we’ll resume with the second half of the season on the 17th.

Jack ran away with the first half of the season. Hacks, Nik, and Justin did their best to close the gap in the final weeks, but weren’t able to overcome Jack’s snarky view on the team and baseball at large. Congrats Jack, and good luck to the rest of the competitors in the second half! See you then!
