Diamondbacks trade Eduardo Escobar to Brewers

There you go. The shoe has dropped

The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired OF Cooper Hummel and INF Alberto Ciprian from the Milwaukee Brewers for INF Eduardo Escobar.

Hummel, 26, is a switch-hitting outfielder:

  • This season for Triple-A Nashville, hit .254 (32-for-126)/.435 OBP/.508 SLG with 8 doubles, 3 triples, 6 homers, 15 RBI and 41 walks (26 strikeouts) in 46 games…made 21 starts in left field, 5 at first base and 4 at catcher.
  • Did not play in 2020 due to no Minor League season.
  • Over 6 seasons in the Brewers’ system (2016-21), has played in 363 games and hit .245 (268-for-1094)/.389 OBP/.416 SLG with 57 doubles, 11 triples, 36 homers, 163 RBI and 231 walks (286 strikeouts).
  • Was the Brewers’ 18th-round pick in the 2016 draft out of the University of Portland.

Ciprian, 18, is a right-handed hitting infielder:

  • This season with Rookie DSL Brewers 1, hit .378 (14-for-37)/.465 OBP/.514 SLG with 5 doubles, 8 RBI and 5 walks in 12 games.
  • Did not play in 2020 due to no Minor League season.
  • Signed by the Brewers as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic on July 2, 2019.

Escobar, 32, played parts of 4 seasons for the D-backs (2018-21) and was a 2021 National League All-Star. This is what he just had to say:
