The Diamondbacks Minor League affiliates combined for a 2-2 record. Taking the mound in last night’s games were Slade Cecconi and Corbin Martin.

Best Pitching Performance: Visalia RHP Brandon Pfaadt - 6 13 IP, 6 H, 2 R (2 ER), 1 BB, 12 K
Best Hitting Performance: Amarillo LF Jake McCarthy - 3 for 5, 2B, HR (5), 3 RBI, R, 1 K

AAA: Reno Aces 6, Sacramento River Cats (SFG) 4

Reno wasted no time in grabbing the lead in this game. An infield hit and a pair of walks loaded the bases with 1 out before Seth Beer cleared the bases with a double. That double would be Reno’s only at-bat with a runner in scoring position. Reno would plate two more in the 3rd, thanks to an Andrew Young home run and Daulton Varsho’s speed. With a lot of early run support, Corbin Martin cruised through the first 5 innings. He ran into some trouble in the 6th. The 3rd out continues to prove to be elusive for the organization as Joe McCarthy hit a 3-run homer to pretty much end Martin’s night. The bullpen was able to get the final 10 outs without too many issues.

2B Andrew Young: 2 for 4, HR (2), RBI, 2 R
1B Seth Beer: 1 for 3, 2B, SF, 4 RBI
C Daulton Varsho: 1 for 3, BB, 2 K, 2 R
RHP Corbin Martin: 5 23 IP, 4 H, 4 R (4 ER), 4 BB, 7 K

AA: Amarillo Sod Poodles 6, Frisco RoughRiders (TEX) 3

Fueled by Jake McCarthy’s bat, the Poodles were able to quickly take control of this game. McCarthy would launch his 5th homer of the year in the first to give Amarillo a lead they would never relinquish. In the 4th, the first five batters would reach on two singles and 3 walks. After a pair of strikeouts, McCarthy was the hero again with a 2-run double to right to score 2. That would give Amarillo a 5-0 and they needed every run to maintain the lead.

Ryan Weiss started the game for Amarillo and fell victim to the long ball in the bottom of the 4th. Josh Stowers and Steele Walker hit a solo and 2-run shot off of him. Overall, he struck out 6 in 5 innings with just those 3 runs. The bullpen would get the final 12 outs of the game and kept Frisco off the board and Luis Alejandro Basabe would hit a solo homer in the top of the 5th for a huge insurance run.

CF Alek Thomas: 0 for 5, 2 K
LF Jake McCarthy: 3 for 5, 2B, HR (5), 3 RBI, 1 K
RF Dominic Fletcher: 2 for 2, 2 BB, R
SS Geraldo Perdomo: 0 for 1, 3 BB, RBI, R

High A: Hillsboro Hops 2, Everett Aqua Sox (SEA) 13

Slade Cecconi had a clunker outing, allowing 8 runs (7 earned) on 7 hits, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. The Hillsboro offense didn’t put up much of a fight either, scoring in the 6th and 7th inning long after falling behind 11-0. After Cecconi was pulled in the 3rd, Justin Vernia would come in and proceed to allow 5 more runs, with two of them charged to Cecconi, for what ultimately became a 9-run 5th.

RHP Slade Cecconi: 2 13 IP, 7 H, 8 R (7 ER), 3 BB, 2 K, L (0-1)

Low A: Visalia Rawhide 1, Fresno Grizzlies (COL) 2

Despite a strong start from Brandon Pfaadt, Visalia offense did not show up for the game. Pfaadt allowed 2 runs in 6 13 innings on 6 hits, no walks, and 12 strikeouts. Visalia’s only run came on an RBI double from Ronny Simon to score Roman Ruiz. Fresno would score in the 4th and 5th off Pfaadt, but there was plenty of time to get the tying run across. Visalia would only have 4 hits for the game and went 0 for 4 with RISP in the game.

3B A.J. Vukovich: 1 for 4, 2B, 3 K
RHP Brandon Pfaadt: 6 13 IP, 6 H, 2 R (2 ER), 0 BB, 12 K, L (1-2)
