Arizona Diamondbacks 6, New York Mets 7: Brute Side Quasi Beer Cap

Sometimes the written word just isn’t enough to convey that I am literally bashing my forehead against a keyboard these days. Today I figured I’d invite my fellow Brutes along to try something different to see what they had to say about the game. EBH doesn’t know it yet, but he is a far better recapper than he gives himself credit for. Nobody tell Turambar’s employer that he did a phenomenal job paying attention to this game while providing phenomenal commentary after. Just skip through all of my nonsense rambling and save yourself the time.

Madison Bumgarner made his 12th start of the season and has started to revert back to the pitcher we knew in 2020 and the first few starts of this season. The New York Mets tagged him for six hits and four runs in the first inning alone... but fear not. Arizona counter punched with four runs of their own in the bottom of the first courtesy of a two run home run from Ketel Marte, and a two run single from old friend Ildemaro Vargas.

It seemed that the game would be a back and forth slug fest after that first inning that took nearly forty minutes to complete. However, the bullpens of both teams would combine for 14.2 innings while allowing only three runs total. Truly a tale of two games.
