The Diamondbacks Minor League affiliates combined for a 2-2 record. Reno and Hillsboro would get wins while Visalia and Amarillo took losses.
Best Pitcher - Visalia (Low A) RHP Brandon Pfaadt: 5 IP, 1 H, 1 R (1 ER), 0 BB, 7 K
Best Hitter - Reno (AAA) 1B Seth Beer: 3 for 5, 2B, HR (1), 2 RBI, 2 R, 1 K
AAA: Reno Aces 8, Salt Lake Bees (LAA) 7
Home runs dominated the day for the Aces lineup, as the team combined for 5 home runs. Christian Lopes hit a pair of home runs and Seth Beer was a triple short of the cycle to pace the offense. Josh Reddick and Domingo Leyba also contributed home runs. Seth Frankoff allowed 8 hits and 5 runs over 5+ innings, after getting crushed for 4 runs in the 6th. Reno was able to counter in the 7th with Beer’s 3rd hit of the day scoring Reddick and then later scoring on Stuart Fairchild’s single, Reno’s only hit with a runner in scoring position. The bullpen was a bit leaky in the final innings, although they were able to get the job done.
1B Seth Beer: 3 for 5, 2B, HR (1), 2 RBI, 2 R, 1 K
AA: Amarillo Sod Poodles 3, Tulsa Drillers (LAD) 12
A 6 inning first inning would doom Amarillo from the start, as Tyler Holton was unable to escape the first inning. Holton allowed 4 hits and 2 walks, with all 6 baserunners crossing the plate. Amarillo would put 3 runs on the board in the 5th when they loaded the bases with 1 out before a groundout to 3B and a 2-run single to center by Jake McCarthy.
CF Alek Thomas: 1 for 2, 2B, 3 BB, R, 1 K
RF Dominic Fletcher: 0 for 5, RBI, 1 K
LF Jake McCarthy: 2 for 5, 2 RBI, 3 K
High A: Hillsboro Hops 7, Everett Aqua Sox (SEA) 2
Hillsboro ran wild in this game on offense and got a lot of opportunities to score runs, thanks to being a perfect 11 for 11 in stolen base attempts. Leodany Perez and Nick Dalesandro both had 4 steals. Drey Jameson was a bit wild, but allowed just 1 run on 4 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts in 3 2⁄3 innings. Hillsboro would strike for 6 runs in the 4th, with 6 straight baserunners, all with a runner in scoring position. The bullpen was solid with 5 1⁄3 innings of 1 run ball, with Gage Blake Workman picking up a 3-inning save at the end.
RHP Drey Jameson: 3 2⁄3 IP, 4 H, 1 R (1 ER), 2 BB, 5 K
SS Blaze Alexander 0 for 4, BB, R
Low A: Visalia Rawhide 8, Lake Elsinore Storm (SDP) 9 (F/10)
Visalia got an excellent start from Brandon Pfaadt, who allowed just a solo home run in 5 innings and struck out 7. The Visalia offense would build up a decent lead, with a 2-run homer from A.J. Vukovich in the 1st and Ronny Simon hitting a solo shot in the 4th. Unfortunately as soon as Pfaadt left the game, the entire bullpen imploded. Visalia gave up 4 runs in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to put the team behind 7-5. Visalia would take advantage of a botched double play in the 8th to tie the game at 7, which would be the score going into extra innings. Unfortunately a defensive miscue would cost Visalia a chance to win as Lake Elsinore scored 2 runs and Visalia only 1.
CF Wilderd Patin: 1 for 5, 1 K
3B A.J. Vukovich: 1 for 5, HR (2), 2 RBI, R, 2 K
