The Diamondbacks Minor League affiliates combined for an 0-3 record. Visalia and Amarillo would get burned by big offensive innings while Hillsboro lost a heartbreaker.

Amarillo struggled to stay in this game. Tommy Henry and Justin Vernia allowed 7 runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings, as both pitchers were plagued by the long ball. In total, Amarillo pitchers allowed 4 homers. The Amarillo offense consisted of only two solo home runs, hit by Dominic Fletcher and Ryder Jones.

High A: Hillsboro Hops 2, Everett Aqua Sox (SEA) 3 (F/11)
Pitching ruled the day in this game, as the two teams combined to have only 19 baserunners in 11 innings. Ryne Nelson allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts over 6 innings on his first start of the year. Corbin Carroll would lead off the game with a little league homer, officially scored a triple and a fielding error by Julio Rodriguez. After falling behind 2-1, the Hops scored when Blaze Alexander singled, stole 2nd, and scored on Buddy Kennedy’s subsequent hit to tie the game. Neither team would score again until the 11th inning, when the Aqua Sox’s free runner would score from a 3rd on a passed ball by Hops catcher Nick Dalesandro. The Hops would go down in order, with a flyout sandwiched between a pair of strikeouts.
Corbin Carroll: 1 for 3, 3B, 2 BB, R
Blaze Alexander: 1 for 4, BB, SB, R, 1 K
Ryne Nelson: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R (2 ER), 2 BB, 6 K
Low A: Visalia Rawhide 5, Lake Elsinore Storm (SDP) 11
A 7-run 6th inning ultimately doomed the Rawhide, which doubly sucked after the team took a 5-4 lead in the previous half-inning. Blake Walston started for Visalia and wasn’t particularly sharp. He allowed 4 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts over 5 innings and actually was in line for the win. A.J. Vukovich provided the big blow in the bottom of the 5th, as his 3-run homer gave them that aforementioned lead. Unfortunately things came off the rails in the 6th, as Marcos Tineo allowed 6 hits in the frame which combined with 2 errors resulted in 7 runs crossing the plate. Visalia didn’t put up much of a threat after that point.
