Tim Locastro continued to do great leadoff type things and Christian Walker accounted for all three of Arizona’s runs in the loss to the Brewers.
Arizona’s second lefty starter only allowed one run while striking out six through 4.1 innings. Christian Walker drove in all three runs in the losing effort.
Tyler Clippard faced seven batters without retiring a single one on Friday. After allowing six batters to reach, he fell behind 3-0 to Zach Green. It was at that point which Clippard walked off the mound to get his shoulder evaluated for discomfort which was preventing him from getting proper spin or following through on his pitches. Clippard will be further evaluated. He may require a stint on the DL. If he does head to the DL, a number of questions regarding the bullpen open up.
Regardless of how the final roster spots shake out during the last couple weeks of spring, Torey Lovullo is going to have a roster filled with versatile players. Lovullo intends to use that versatility to his advantage to create the best lineups he can.
Josh Rojas has had a monster spring. Jeff Passan sees a strong possibility for Josh Rojas to carry that over into the season, making him a strong candidate to be Arizona’s breakout sensation in 2021.
