Arizona Diamondbacks March confidence poll

February results

We polled you in the early days of February, before even pitchers and catchers had reported. But there still hadn’t been a great deal of action - read, basically nothing at all affecting the 40-man roster. [Arizona’s first move of significant took place a couple of days later, the team signing Joakim Soria on February 6] Could anyone be bothered to pick up a mouse and click on the poll? Surprisingly, over a hundred of you did, the second-best tally in a year. Though that’s still well off the 253 who took part in the February 2020 poll. What an entirely different world that seems... Here are the results.

  • 22% - 1 (not confident in the slightest)
  • 24% - 2
  • 21% - 3
  • 15% - 4
  • 8% - 5
  • 8% - 6
  • 0% - 7
  • 1% - 8
  • 2% - 9 (very, very, VERY confident)

Even the 9’s seem to have drifted away, dropping from 6% in the January poll. But again, there was about as much movement here as in the Diamondbacks 40-man roster, hohoho, with every figure remaining withing five percent of the previous month. It was enough to drop the average figure from 3.39 to 3.04. That’s a low confidence for the month in the six years we’ve been doing the poll, breaking the previous mark of 3.45 in February 2019.

Below, you can see the breakdown for the past 12 polls’ results, followed by the line graph showing the trends over this and previous seasons.

March poll

There have at least been some roster changes since last time.

  • February 6, 2021 - Signed Joakim Soria as a free agent.
  • February 11, 2021 - Signed Chris Devenski as a free agent.
  • February 22, 2021 - Signed Asdrubal Cabrera as a free agent.
  • February 26, 2021 - Signed Tyler Clippard as a free agent.

We’ve also seen Zac Gallen look good, and while Madison Bumgarner hasn’t seen a lot of action... Boy, that one start, with all six outs coming by the strikeout. However, there have been negatives to consider, such as the injury to Kole Calhoun, the COVID-ness of Tim Locastro, and the ongoing absence of Nick Ahmed. Many of these may be resolved by Opening Day. But right now, how do you feel?

The poll is below, feel free to explain your choice in the comments, especially if it has changed from the February poll.
