Young’s Plans for Spring, Peralta Ready

Ketel Marte is working on his plate discipline, very aware of how he let it slip away in 2020 which resulted in a less than stellar offensive season. He’s also working on remaining flexible with where he plays as it seems the Diamondbacks have plans to move him about the diamond again in 2021.
Heading into the 2019 season, Corbin Martin was one of Houston’s untouchables. Then, an injury to Martin, coupled with the chance to slot Zack Greinke into a rotation already featuring Gerrit Cole and Justin Verlander changed things. Corbin Martin was moved to the Diamondbacks as the centerpiece of a trade for Arizona’s ace. Now, having finished rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, Martin is eager to show the Diamondbacks just why they traded for him.

Atlanta Again Bets on Small Sample Size
Old friend alert.
Five days after being cut by the Arizona Diamondbacks, Jake Lamb was picked up by the Oakland Athletics as part of their plan to weather the loss of Matt Chapman. With the A’s, Lamb looked like the player Arizona had long been waiting to return, slugging three home runs in 13 games and posting a 141 wRC+. The Braves have decided to make a low-cost $1 million bet on Lamb, penciling him in as a perfect platoon complement to Austin Riley to man their hot corner.
Shin Soo-Choo Returns to Korea
Despite offers from no fewer than eight MLB teams, some which would have paid him more than the $2.4 million he will earn playing for the KBO SK Wyverns, Choo is returning to Korea to finish up his career in professional baseball. Among the reasons given were giving back to the Korean community and, almost certainly most important, getting to play in front of his parents, who have never yet seen him pitch professionally in person.
Sure, the stats being cherry-picked are somewhat random. It still does not make this small bit of serendipity any less fun.
