Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte was ranked third on MLB Network’s annual Top 10 Second Basemen Right Now! program last night. Marte finished one spot ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays’ Brandon Lowe and one spot behind the New York Mets’ Jeff McNeil.

Hosted by MLB Network’s Brian Kenny alongside MLB Network analysts, each Top 10 Right Now! ranking considers player performance over the last three seasons, offensive and defensive metrics, both advanced Statcast data and traditional numbers, and expert analysis by the MLB Network research team.

The complete ranking for MLB Network’s top-10 second basemen is listed below and available at

Top 10 Second Basemen Right Now!

  1. DJ LeMahieu, New York Yankees
  2. Jeff McNeil, New York Mets
  3. Ketel Marte, Arizona Diamondbacks
  4. Brandon Lowe, Tampa Bay Rays
  5. Cavan Biggio, Toronto Blue Jays
  6. Jake Cronenworth, San Diego Padres
  7. Donovan Solano, San Francisco Giants
  8. Chris Taylor, Los Angeles Dodgers
  9. José Altuve, Houston Astros
  10. Ozzie Albies, Atlanta Braves

I wonder if any other D-backs will make the top ten lists at their positions. Nick Ahmed, perhaps? Anyway, what do you reckon about Ahmed’s ranking? Too high, too low or about right?
