Arizona Diamondbacks November confidence poll

Into the off-season we go!

October results

September ended with the team having gone 6-19 for the month, in a regression towards the form seen earlier in the year (though it was still only the third-worst month of the season!). The team entered the final series with a shot at the worst record in franchise history... and also the #1 pick in next year’s draft. But even the latter prize was unable to generate much confidence in Diamondbacks fandom, when we checked in at the beginning of October.

After a brief decline in September, the number of “1” votes went back more or less to what it was at the beginning of August. The percentages there over the last three months from August through October have been 57%. 37%, 59%. However, there were a smaller amount of “2” this month, with about a quarter in the 3-5 range, and that helped keep the overall average above what it had sunk too. The overall average score for October was 2.15. down from 2.70 in September, but still better than the 1.87 figure in August. However, it is still the lowest figure at this point in the season, over the six years we’ve been doing these polls.

Actually having two of these. The first is in regard to the imminent expiration of the CBA, and what looks to be a fraught renegotiation. So, do you think that the 2022 baseball season will start on time? Of course, please explain yourself. :)

The Diamondbacks posted a winning record in October! If they’d maintained that pace over the rest of the season, they’d have won 108 games, the best record in the majors! Or, put another way, they took two of three at home against the Rockies. The D-backs thereby dodged, as outlined above, the worst record in franchise history... and also the #1 pick in next year’s draft. So, a bit of a double-edged sword. Since then, the team has cleared out much of their coaching staff, and their replacements as hitting and bench coaches have been announced. So does that make a difference to your feelings as we head into the winter?
