If the Dodgers are eliminated - and baseball gods note, I am stressing the if for now! - it will be the first time since 2002 there have been multiple 100-win teams, all of whom failed to make the World Series. That year, we had the Yankees (103 wins), Athletics (103) and Braves (101), but remarkably all were eliminated in the Division Series. The 98-win Diamondbacks also went home there, as all four series were won by the lower seed. The Giants are already the first team in the Divisional era to win 107 games and not make at least the Championship Series. The only other 107-game winner not to make the World Series was, of course, the 2001 Mariners.
