Diamondbacks News
Alex Young was not particularly sharp. The Arizona offense continued to slump, despite home runs by Jon Jay and (checks notes...) Christian Walker(!). The result, the Diamondbacks have now lost seven in a row, coming directly off their improbable six-game winning streak.
Arizona Losing Streak Runs to Seven
If only just one part of Arizona’s game could be identified as the culprit. However, it seems like the Diamondbacks are finding plenty of different ways to lose.
It was far from a great performance by Arizona’s pitching. The combination of Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado went 4-for-9 with two RBI and four runs scored. Arizona’s bats did precious little to help though once the bleeding was stopped. It even took a terrible cement mixer for Christian Walker to finally put one in the seats.

The Replacement Level Killers - First Base
Sadly, the Diamondbacks make a prominent appearance on this list, despite Christian Walker’s 116 wRC+.
Lucas Giolito Pitches 2020’s First No-No
No 2020 asterisk needed. This was a legit 101-pitch domination.
Indians Reinstate Clevinger, Will Pitch Today Against Twins
This is my unsurprised face. Cleveland has reinstated the their ace pitcher, Mike Clevinger, after sending him to their alternate site as a punishment for violating team quarantine rules. The punishment did not last long, putting Clevinger back on the mound to help secure Cleveland’s wild card berth.
Angels - Astros Wednesday Game Postponed
If it’s not one thing, it’s another. Having avoided any COVID-19 complications, the Angels and Astros will still see Wednesday’s game postponed. This one is being postponed due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Laura.
