FOX Sports Arizona starts its D-backs Throwback Thursday Classics series tonight with a replay of Game 1 of the 2007 NLDS against the Cubs, from October 3rd that year. The broadcast starts at 7:30 pm. Brandon Webb was on the mound, went 7 innings, struck out 9, allowed 4 hits and got the win. Infamously, Carlos Zambrano was lifted after six innings and only 85 pitches, to save him for a possible later game. The Cubs bullpen, in the shape of Carlos Marmol, then allowed a go-ahead home-run to the first batter faced, Mark Reynolds (shown trotting round the bases, above). Ha-ha-ha! Here’s our Gameday Thread for that contest, if you really want to relive the experience.
Tonight’s replay will also let fans start to play the D-backs 50/50 raffle from home. They can buy tickets at www.dbacks.com/5050. The pot will grow through next Thursday’s game when the winner will be announced. The proceeds will benefit the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation to assist in helping those most vulnerable during the current coronavirus national emergency.
After tonight, here’s the schedule for the next three Thursdays in April:
- April 16: 2007 NLDS Game 3 (D-backs / Cubs)
- April 23: 2017 NL Wild Card (D-backs / Rockies)
- April 30: 2011 NLDS Game 3 (D-backs / Brewers)
