Heads up, this is an Athletic article so be ready to drop some of those Donny Bucks on a subscription.
“You’ve just got to prove them wrong, even the Diamondbacks. They skipped out on me a few times,” Thomas said. “I still have that in the back of my mind. I still go out and prove to them every day that I should have been picked higher......”
“Obviously I’m not working right now,” Chafin said. “After we saw all the damage and all the trees that were down, we were thinking of something we could do to help give back to the community. We want to help clean things up so that when this whole pandemic is over, people have a place to go and get their kids out. We just want to create a better environment.”
“In this political climate starving for businesses to re-open, it was a matter of time,” one agent said. “MLB is clearly following in the footsteps of the NBA in making this happen. They plan on doing so while following social distancing guidelines.”
Great, the beer lines just got longer.
‘Jeter and Walker were to be inducted with catcher Ted Simmons and the late Marvin Miller, the pioneering players’ union head who negotiated free agency and transformed the sport.’
An opinion piece from Bob Nightengale full of quotes from current MLB managers including our own Torey Lovullo on the subject of a 2020 season, no matter how it takes shape.
‘An industry official with direct knowledge of MLB’s plans said Tuesday the league has determined enough time has passed that teams should be given the option to provide relief for fans who may themselves be financially stretched by the economic devastation wrought by the coronavirus. The official spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the plan had not yet been announced.
At the moment, the official said, MLB does not plan on outright cancelling games, given that so much remains unknown about the arc of the pandemic, and the league has multiple contingency plans to make games up should conditions allow.
Yet as of Tuesday, a typical team has already had about 15 games postponed, or nearly 20% of an 81-game schedule. By the end of May – a timeframe now unrealistic for games to begin – about 30 games, or more than a third of a team’s home schedule, will be lost.’
As you may recall in the comments in last Thursday’s Snake Bytes, Jack had suggested a poll for helping NikT77 decide what to change his Diamondback’s room to should he NOT receive a refund for cancelled games.
“my Dbacks room can EASILY be changed into a room for other stuff.”

“I think this needs a poll or something - For NikT’s redesigned room options..”
NikT77’s redesign of his Dbacks room should be..
This poll is closed
Bowflex room to workout and achieve maximum thiccness
Chains and leather room
A secret laboratory dedicated to researching and finding cures to the World’s worst diseases and viruses but then a beaker spills and here comes the next disastrous pandemic all thanks to the Dbacks for not refunding NikT’s tickets.
