February results
I managed to vague over the expected March poll, but I think events since then kinda make whatever happened in February seem insignificant. It’s amazing to look at the world now, and realize that three weeks yesterday, spring training games were still being played. I’m now on day #15 of being “Jimmy on the block.” and fending off cats who try to take over video conference calls with enthusiastic purring. Baseball? I barely remember what that is. But let’s take a look at what we were thinking, back in the dim and distant past, which was the beginning of February.

That’s a slight uptick in overall confidence, likely resulting from the trade for Starling Marte, which was the main move made between January and February polls. That did a nice job of filling the gap in center field, and means the top three categories all see a small bump in their percentage.
The overall average became 7.17, which is the highest it had been, at the start of February, in any of the five years we’ve been measuring this. The previous high was 6.73 in 2016... though we know just how misplaced that confidence ended up being! And, of course, there was no way we were to know what would happen this spring training. Right now, there’s no way to know when or if there will be baseball played by the D-backs this year. But we will get to that in a bit. Below, you can see the breakdown for the past 12 months’ results, followed by the line graph showing the averages.

April poll
Well, at the risk of stating the bleedin’ obvious, this is uncharted territory. We should have been a week into the regular season for this one, and be beginning to have a handle on how the season might evolve. Instead, there is no professional sports taking place at all, and nobody can say with certainty when there will be again.
But, I should remind you, while there’s a lot of leeway given as to what the term “confident” means, the question does explicitly state, “about the Diamondbacks”. So that should remain the focus of your decision - even if we don’t know when we’ll next see them take the field! As usual, explain your choice in the comments, which promise to be particularly interesting this time.
