Spring Training Gameday Thread, #13: Diamondbacks vs. Rockies

I’m optimistic we’ll get this one in, unlike last time we were scheduled to play Colorado.

Diamondbacks Line-up

  1. Starling Marte, CF
  2. Ketel Marte, 2B
  3. Eduardo Escobar, 3B
  4. David Peralta, LF
  5. Christian Walker, 1B
  6. Stephen Vogt, C
  7. Nick Ahmed, SS
  8. Jon Jay, RF
  9. Carson Kelly, DH
+ LHP Miguel Aguilar, RHP James Sherfy, RHP Edwin Jackson, RHP Keury Mella, LHP Joe Mantiply, RHP Hector Rondón, RHP Yoan López, RHP Junior Guerra, LHP Andrew Chafin

Many, many pitchers scheduled to throw for the Diamondbacks this afternoon, with Torey Lovullo apparently looking to keep any of his intended starters away from a divisional rival. There will be a couple fewer people hanging round the clubhouse too, as the D-backs made some roster moves this morning. Nothing unexpected, but it does shrink the pool slightly further, with four pitchers being voted off the island.

Optioned to Triple-A Reno:

  • RHP Joel Payamps
  • RHP Emilio Vargas
  • RHP Bo Takahashi

Reassigned to Minor League camp:

  • RHP J.B. Bukauskas

This is actually the first time we’ll have played Colorado this spring, the previous scheduled contest having been rained out on Cactus League Opening Day. We will therefore only see them twice in spring 2020, the other time the final game at SRF on March 22. Seems an awful lot less than previous preseasons, when it felt like we faced the Rockies ever other day!
