The Diamondbacks opened up Spring Training with 67 players hoping to make the 26-man roster. Of that 67, 7 players have since been re-assigned to Minor League camp:
Catchers: Dominic Miroglio
Infielders: Geraldo Perdomo, Drew Ellis
Pitchers: Jeremy Beasley, Matt Peacock, Josh Green, Mark Leiter Jr.
None of these players were expected to make the roster, in fact most of these guys project to play with the organization’s AA affiliate in Jackson. With these cuts now in place, the team now has 60 players left to fill up 26 spots although I would say only 3 roster spots are still up for grabs. Of the group of players sent down to Minor League Camp, Perdomo offers the best ceiling as the team’s shortstop of the future while Green is the one who is most likely to impact the 2020 team as a potentially viable bottom of the rotation innings eater who can fill in for an injury.
