The Dominican Republic announced their roster for the upcoming qualifiers for the 2020 Olympics. Three players from the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, including two players on the current 40-man roster, have made the team and will be representing their home country as they try to get into the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

The Diamondbacks are well represented on this roster, with no other organization having more than two players on the roster. All three players have been either re-assigned to Minor League camp or optioned to their assigned levels to start the season. Players eligible for the Olympics are either players off the 40-man roster or not in the mix for a 26-man roster spot.
Vargas and Payamps are both depth arms for the rotation and bullpen, but likely to spend the majority of the season with AAA Reno while waiting for a call-up opportunity. Perdomo is coming off a season where he advanced to High A Visalia followed by a strong showing in the Arizona Fall League and could start the year in AA. It will be interesting to see where he plays considering he’s sharing an infield with consensus #1 prospect Wander Franco. The Snake Pit wishes the best of the luck to Perdomo, Vargas, and Payamps in getting to the Olympics and staying healthy while representing their home country.
