We took last weekend off for Thanksgiving [I was actually defrosting after Mrs. SnakePit and I were sitting in an increasingly-chilly parking lot until 1 am, watching short films!], but two weeks ago, you were quizzed on your knowledge of regular starters for the D-backs. 74 of you took up the challenge, with the average score being just north of half, at 51%. 12-15 was the most common band, with 22% of participants falling into that category. Congratulations to the one person who nailed it, getting all 32 everyday members of the rotation.

Unsurprisingly, Randy Johnson was the most well-known, being named on all but one of the attempts - I’d be curious to know about the person who didn’t remember the Big Unit! Brandon Webb and Curt Schilling were all very well-known, being tagged by over 90% of those who took part. At the other end, the least remembered was Claudio Vargas, who started 30 games for the 2006 Diamondbacks, Only half a dozen of you got him right. Also largely forgotten were Elmer Dessens and Rick Helling. Here are the full results.

This week’s Sporcle

We move to position players here, and in particular, the outfield. We are looking for those players who started over 60% of games in a season. That works out at 98 or more starts (outfield only, please note!) in a normal campaign, or 37+ in this shortened season. There have been 51 such seasons in franchise history. However, there are lot of multiples included in that, so you only actually have to come up with 19 names in the eight minutes allowed. I think you should be able to get at least two-thirds of these, given the number of relatively famous names we’ve had patrolling the outfield.
