Day 1 of the SnakePit getaway to San Diego is in the books. Safely arrived, located the AirBNB, which is not quite the garden shed it seemed at first glance! Well, I guess it is... but at least it is a garden shed with wifi and air conditioning! It is also under the flight path for planes arriving at the airport, although that is actually quite soothing after a while, Estimated rent for this studio apartment, according to the SnakePitette: $1800 a month. Yeah, not moving to California any tinme soon. Made a supermarket trip to Ralph’s, which is the local version of Fry’s, for supplies. Discovered you cannot buy beer at the self checkouts here. WTF, California? We REALLY will not bemoving here soon...
Met up with the SnakePitette and old SnakePitters AZDBACKR and Mr AZDBACKR for dinner. Nice to see the latter for the first time in six years, since the last time I was in San Diego. Went to Salvatore’s, an Italian restaurant on the edge of the Gaslamp District, and highly recommend it. Afterwards, went for drinks in an undergrund {literally!} bar called Trailer Park After Dark, which has the decor you would expect, i.e. chairs made out of shopping trolleys, etc. Today, it’s off to Coronado Beach for the day. Unlike in Scotlsnd, I will be applying copious quantities of the old SPF 70...
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks look to complete the sweep of the Padres tonight, back in Phoenix. Hopefully, the offense will show up after the first inning, and Archie Bradley won't trigger any more cardiac arrests at the other end of the night.
