Snake Bytes 9/12: A Blistering Beating

Ray was pounded early, offense non-existent, wild card hopes fading.

MLB: Arizona Diamondbacks at New York Mets Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Diamondbacks News:

Diamondbacks 0, Mets 9.

After both teams honored 9/11 1st responders the Mets pounded the D-backs into the dirt. Tim Locastro started the D-backs off with his 21st HBP on the very 1st pitch of the game. Then sat at 1st base as the D-backs offense accomplished squat, leaving Locastro stranded. It was that type of game folks. Ray came in and I wonder if it was Robbie Ray or the Managers that decided Ray was OK to pitch, and that his blister would or should not be an issue. Ray fell apart right away giving up hit after dong, and dong after hit. Ray could not get the 3rd out in the bottom of the 1st and from there, the D-backs were slowly but thoroughly routed.

Ray succumbs to blister problems in loss to Mets.

“I was going to give him that opportunity,” Lovullo said. “He deserved that right.”

He said he knew Ray had struggled during his bullpen to develop a feel for his secondary pitches. But he gave him the ball in the hope that he would find it. WTF?

We have expanded rosters bro, literally anyone else could have started this game for Ray.

Mike Hazen focused on D-backs as rumor mill links him to Boston.

Listening to the radio show this morning they were trying real hard to make a story of this in my opinion. Will Hazen be sought by Boston now that Dave Dombrowski is gone? Will the D-backs grant permission for Hazen to interview for the job? What about Porter? Who is who and what is what? My gut says Hazen stays. Porter too.

A Beyond the Box Score article on our main man, Ketel Marte.

D-backs executive improves lives with baseball.

“We raise money, but more importantly, we make an impact,” she said. “We solve problems for our community. It’s hard work. We’re out front doing it every single day. That makes this job so rewarding”.

2019 Baseball classification all-stars.

A lot of charts in this Baseball America article. But, here are the D-backs that won position of the year in their respective leagues. AAA Pacific Coast Pitcher of the Year Zac Gallen and Short-Season NW League Pitcher of the Year Luis Frias. Congrats bros.

‘We have no choice’: Success of Dodgers, Astros has MLB teams scrambling to keep up.

As Diamondback’s fans we are all too aware of Dodger evil. But what about Astros evil?

“They’re two of the best organizations in baseball right now. Everyone’s looking to them as model franchises and trying to follow suit. It’s just the way the business works.”

What is it like to work in a baseball stadium for 50 years?

“A lot of fans come by as boyfriend and girlfriend, then they’ll come by again as a married couple, and then they’ll come back with kids in their twenties. You see a lot of that.”
