Diamondback’s News:

Diamondbacks 6, Phillies 1: Gallen v Vargas, in a match-up between two starters who were traded at the deadline - Gallen making his debut for the D-backs.

Zac Gallen put on an impressive show last night at Chase Field. Zac pitched 5 innings allowing only 1 hit, 3 walks, while punching out 6. Already I like the new Zac. The bullpen held things together from the 6th on, McERA did give up a couple of hits during his 1 inning pitched, but he escaped unharmed. Ginkel was given the 9th to shut things down, he did strike out 3 Phillies but not before giving up a solo HR to Bryce Harper. The D-backs win back to back series at home, a rarity it seems at Chase Field.

Latest on Luke Weaver and Taijuan Walker.

“Manager Torey Lovullo called the latest development on Weaver “very good news.” The hope is that Weaver and fellow injured righty Taijuan Walker will be able to make it back to the Diamondbacks’ staff this season. Walker is approximately “10 days” behind Weaver’s program, per Lovullo. It’s been an injury-ruined couple years for the once-touted Walker, who missed almost all of last season on account of Tommy John surgery and then suffered a sprained shoulder capsule this past May. He hasn’t made a big league appearance since April 14, 2018.”

Chase Field’s new surface is playing slow, taking toll on outfielders.

“Turf is turf; it’s never going to be like real grass and everybody knows that,” Peralta said. “We just have to be smart. It can get you pretty good with your hamstring or back and everything.”

Holland, ‘17 NL saves leader DFA’d by the D-backs.

Sucks bro, but it was for the greater good.

Blue Jays claim Godley off waivers, DFA David Paulino.

Godley had some good times in AZ, helped us big time in 2017 and was there to take the ball every 5th game since. Hopefully he can right the ship and be successful. You may recall The D-backs DFA’d Socrates Brito early in the season, he too landed with the Jays after a cup of coffee in SD.

DFA’ing Holland and Godley were...

Chase Field News:

40,000 expected at Chase Field this weekend for religious convention.

Where were these 40k people when The Church of Goldy was convening at Chase Field? Probably living in sin somewhere...

Around Baseball:

Can Zack Greinke still win the NL Silver Slugger?

most people don’t realize the Diamondbacks also traded their second-best hitter to the Astros.”

The Red Sox were the toast of baseball last year, now they are just toast.

Most of us heavily supported the Red Sox during the 2018 World Series, as we did the Astros in 2017 because: we wanted to witness the destruction of Dodger evil. Our way of life depended on it.

Fan who threw 96 mph to sign MLB deal with A’s describes journey to contract.

Basically every guy has fantasized about this. You are at a carnival....maybe you have a date with you....and you decide to test your arm at the radar/pitching game. BOOM! You throw a 96 MPH heater you did not even know you had in you to do and someone taps you on the shoulder - “hey, you need to play baseball, come with me..”
