All you can really say is WOW. First reported by Ken Rosenthal, media darling Zack Greinke was traded to the Houston Astros right at the deadline. News of the return is sparce, but John Gambadoro is reporting the return as Corbin Martin (recent TJ), JB Bukauskas, Seth Beer, and Josh Rojas for the ageless wonder.

At first glance the return seems to be substantial with RHP Corbin Martin (#3 in Astros farm system), RHP JB Bukauskas (#4), 1B Seth Beer (#18), 2B Joshua Rojas (Unranked). Currently unknown is the amount of money the D-backs will save in the deal but reports say they are saving a substantial amount.

In return the Astros get Zack Greinke, who instantly turns the Astros as widespread leaders for World Champions. He joins an absolutely stacked starting rotation with Gerrit Cole and Justin Verlander leading the way.

It goes without saying that the D-backs organization and fanbase wish Zack all the best as he moves on from this team.

Edit: Gambo is reporting the D-backs are picking up $24 million of the remaining $77 million owed on Greinke’s deal. (Source)
