Diamondbacks News:

D-backs 5, Orioles 2: Playing With Fire the Baltimore Orioles lose the series against the D-backs at Chase Field. Taylor Clarke blew away our expectations of suck, and solidified a win for himself and the team. Carson Kelly and Ketel Marte delivered massive dongs much to the home crowd’s delight - Kelly’s 12th HR and Marte’s 22nd. The bullpen fared well and even Archie Bradley got himself out of a bases loaded jam. Greg Holland came in to close and did the exact opposite. After TWO mound visits by manager Torey Lovullo, Holland reluctantly left the game and was visual angry or upset. Lopez came in and ended the Orioles quickly and without struggle.

D-backs have run taken away after UMP calls interference on himself. Allow the Umpire to contemplate his failures on the Tree of Woe.

Ketel Marte’s torrid July stands out from scoreboard watching and trade speculations.

During the latest home stand Marte hit .429 (12-for-28), with three doubles, a triple, a home run, four RBIs and six runs scored.

More dots connecting Greinke to Phillies.

From the articleThe Phillies, it ought to go without saying, have rotation problems. Jake Arrieta is pitching through an injured elbow, and as a group, their starters have allowed a 5.21 ERA in the last 30 days. While Aaron Nola has rebounded, Vince Velasquez and Zach Eflin can’t seem to stop allowing homers, and so the Phillies have already had to rescue Drew Smyly from the unemployment line. (He did pitch well in his debut on Sunday.) But for all their struggles, they’re just a half-game out of the Wild Card, and they didn’t go get Bryce Harper and J.T. Realmuto to wait until next year.”

Diamondbacks mindset puts Yankees in middle of Robbie Ray sweepstakes.

From the article “The Diamondbacks, meanwhile, have had Tim Wilken, a special assistant to Hazen, in Tampa scouting the Yankees’ Single-A team, The Post reported July 12.”

Around Baseball:

Baseball deserves much better than Wednesday’s Red Sox - Rays fiasco.

After the Rays moved their pitcher to 1b, Angel Hernandez blew an O-ring and had to re-compute things for about 21 min - delay of game style.

Bellinger tossed in heated Freeway series finale.

From the article “I don’t remember what I said, to be honest. But when I saw the video and how they’re outside, I said we’ve got to do something about this.”

This was Bellinger’s first ejection as a Major Leaguer.

Baumgarner: “Best stretch I’ve ever been apart of.”

From the article “If the Giants hold on to Bumgarner, they could extend him a qualifying offer at the end of the season and receive draft-pick compensation if he departs as a free agent this winter. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future with the Giants, Bochy said Bumgarner has remained unperturbed by the trade rumors, channeling the trademark focus that has fueled his past success in October.”

Off Topic Snake News:

Rattlesnake Squad comes to the rescue - of other snakes.

“We’re trying to give them a chance of survival, but also trying to appease the homeowners that have concerns about having them around their property,” Edwards said.
