Diamondbacks News
[D’backs.com] Inbox: Are any of these 3 likely to be dealt? - A majority of the trade rumors surrounding the Arizona Diamondbacks involve Robbie Ray.Of all the players on the team, he could bring the most substantial return. Will Mike Hazen pull the trigger? That depends on what happens in the standings over the next week.
[AZ Central] If Diamondbacks sell, Robbie Ray is their prize trade chip - The problem with trading Robbie Ray right now is finding another pitcher who is going to pick up his remaining starts. That starter almost surely will not be as talented as Ray at least if he comes from within the system. The front office would need to target another Luke Weaver caliber pitcher in return.
[ESPN] 2019 MLB trade deadline rumors, news, analysis and trade tracker - Other names with consistent mention are Zack Greinke, David Peralta, and Nick Ahmed. Very little has been mentioned about the team being buyers at the deadline and who they would even target. That’s due to the middling results to date this season.
[Arizona Sports] D-backs infielder Wilmer Flores moving rehab to Triple-A Reno - Arizona is very close to having its entire infield healthy since the beginning of the season. Wilmer Flores has progressed his rehab to the AAA Reno Aces and could return as soon as Thursday.
Around the League
[ESPN] Power Rankings: Can Yankees bust Dodgers-Astros monopoly on No. 1? - The D’backs placement in the power rankings reflects the uncertainty of their future. They’re slightly better than average at #13 per ESPN. The Athletic holds them in the same regard. Arizona actually drops from the middle of the pack down to #17 at CBS Sports. Bleacher Report spots them the lowest at #19.
[Sports Business Journal] Patches in progress for MLB - This is one of those things that I will never quite understand. I find advertisements insanely annoying in almost any medium to the point that I want noting to do with the product. I zone out during commercials. I groan when a competitor in my industry inaccurately claims that their company does business different from the rest. Now we might have to put up with this on jerseys? This is one cloud I can’t walk past without yelling at it. This ignores the possibility that the MLBPA might botch this in the next CBA negotiations and end up getting the players a free set of Goodyear tires instead of the revenue share they deserve.
[Bleacher Report] Do Umpires Dream of Electronic Strikes? - Blow the welds off your intake manifold in the comments. I’m not sure how much more of Joe West and Angel Hernandez I can stand.
