Diamondbacks Minor League Recap 7/9/2019

The Diamondbacks Minor League affiliates combined for a 2-1 record.

(AA) Jackson Generals 7, Chattanooga Lookouts 5: Emilio Vargas turned in an OK outing, allowing 3 runs in 5 13 innings with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks. Cameron Gann would allow a 2-run homer, which put Jackson behind 4-2. After scratching across a run in the 7th, the Generals plated 4 runs in the 8th to take the lead. A wild pitch tied the game at 4-4 before a sac fly by Mark Karaviotis and a 2-run pinch homer by Dominic Miroglio gave them a 7-4 lead. Matt Brill surrendered a solo homer in the 8th, but Miguel Aguilar would get the final 3 outs of the 9th. Daulton Varsho and Jazz Chisholm each had 2 hits in the win.

(A+) Visalia Rawhide 5, Stockton Ports 6: Shumpei Yoshikawa allowed just a solo homer in 4 23 innings, striking out 7 and walking none. Camden Duzenack drove in 4 of Visalia’s 5 runs, homering twice in 4 ABs. Jancarlos Cintron drove in the other run with a double in the 7th that momentarily gave Visalia a 2-1 lead. A botched double play ball by 2B L.T. Tolbert led to a big inning, as Stockton would score 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th to take a 6-2 lead. Duzenack’s 2nd home run (3-run shot) was not enough for Visalia, as all it did was affect the final score of the game.

(A-) Hillsboro Hops 8, Boise Hawks 2: Luis Frias struck out 9 and walked 4 in 4 23 innings, allowing just 1 run. He would fall 1 out short of qualifying for the win, as Hillsboro staked him to an 8-0 lead after 4 innings. Daniel Wasinger would single home a run in the 2nd and Kristian Robinson would hit a solo homer for the game’s first two runs. In the 4th, the Hops utilized death by a million papercuts as 2 doubles, a HBP, and 5 singles resulted in 6 runs scoring. Yaramil Hiraldo would pitch out of a bases-loaded jam in the 5th, but would allow a run in the 6th before getting pulled with 2 outs. Jacob Stevens and Justin Garcia would record the final 10 outs of the game with very little resistance. Every Hillsboro starter would record a hit plus an RBI or runs scored in the game. Robinson and Tristin English would record multi-hit games.
