Merrill Kelly stifled the Phillies as the D-backs won the series against a first-place team.

Merrill Kelly, Andrew Chafin and Greg Holland combined on a three-hit shutout of the Phillies, as the D-backs won their quickest game of the season, in a crisp two hours and sixteen minutes. Kelly allowed those three hits, but walked none and struck out five, as he tossed 723 shutout innings in his best start of the year. Chafin got Bryce Harper to fly out for the last out of the eighth, and Greg Holland retired all three batters he faced, getting what I believe is called a “save” [it has been a while...]

Meanwhile, the D-backs did all the necessary scoring in a two-run fifth, on three singles, including an RBI knock by Christian Walker, and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Nick Ahmed. They managed only six hits themselves, with two for Ketel Marte; David Peralta had a hit and Arizona’s only walk. Ahmed also delivered the web gem below, which will probably be a contender for Play of the Year come season end. Keegan will be along with the full recap shortly!
