Bradin Hagens had a much less successful outing, getting just one out in the seventh. Scott pitched one and two thirds innings and allowed a hit and a walk, while striking out three. Ryan Atkinson pitched a scoreless ninth, with a walk and a strikeout.
The Aces got on board in the first when Yasmany Tomas tripled in Abraham Almonte. The Redbirds shut down the Aces and scored seven runs before the Aces scored in the bottom of the eighth. In the bottom of the eighth with one out, Wyatt Mathisen reached on a hit by pitch, John Ryan Murphy singled, then Marty Herum followed up with another single, scoring Mathisen and putting runners on first and second. An out later, Travis Snider walked, loading the bases, and then Abraham Almonte walked as well, forcing in another run. The Aces rallied in the ninth and scored a run, but ultimately came up short.
