The diamondbacks Minor League affiliates combined to finish 2-1 last night, with Visalia’s game being postponed to rain.
Here are the stars from last night’s games:
☆☆☆ Reno RHP Taylor Widener 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R (1 ER), 2 BB, 8 K, W (3-3)
☆☆ Kane County CF Alek Thomas 4 for 4, BB, 2 RBI, 3 R
☆ Reno 2B Domingo Leyba 2 for 3, 2B, HR, BB, HBP, 2 RBI, 2 R
(AAA) Reno Aces 9, El Paso Chihuahuas 1: Taylor Widener righted the ship for one start, limiting El Paso to just 2 hits, a solo homer, while striking out 8 in 5 innings. After struggling to start the season, seeing a start with those type of results is definitely encouraging. The Aces offense also had a solid day with 4 different players hitting out home runs. Domingo Leyba, Yasmany Tomas, Cody Decker, and Tim Locastro each hit a home run.
(AA) Jackson Generals 0, Montgomery Biscuits 3: Jackson’s offense struggled with only 3 hits and picked up 13 strikeouts in the game. Kevin McCanna allowed 2 runs in 5 innings, but took the loss in the game as a result of the anemic offense. Andy Young had 2 of Jackson’s 3 hits.
(A) Kane County Cougars 9, Quad Cities River Bandits 3: Justin Lewis started off with 4 shutout innings, scattering 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. The Cougars offense went to work quickly, scoring two runs in the first and continually adding on runs to get a 6-0 lead after 5 innings. Alek Thomas and Eduardo Diaz had big games with 4 and 3 hits respectively in their 5 trips to the plate.
