Merrill Kelly got the W, with a little help from Yoshihisa Hirano

MLB: San Francisco Giants at Arizona Diamondbacks Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Merrill Kelly took his shutout into the sixth inning, and outdueled Jeff Samardzija on Game of Thrones night at Chase Field. David Peralta gave the Diamondbacks the lead with his seventh homerun of the season in the fourth, but the game likely turned on the sixth. San Francisco loaded the bases with one out and chased Kelly. But Yoshihisa Hirano got a huge strikeout of Brandon Crawford, as the threat was turned away. Arizona then scored twice in their turn, making the Giants pay for intentionally walking Peralta. The D-backs then blew it open with a bases-clearing triple by Eduardo Escobar in the seventh and cruised to victory thereafter.

Kelly went 5.1 scoreless innings, on six hits and a walk, with four strikeouts. Hirano, Andrew Chafin and Jimmie Sherfy took things the rest of the way. Adam Jones had three hits, while Wilmer Flores and Ketel Marte each got a pair. The long recap will... be a while.
