Pit Your Wits ‘19: Week 5

Another week in...

Last week, I asked you to come up with a five word phrase to describe this year’s incarnation of the Diamondbacks. Lots of entries, but only two red comments, so make sure you aren’t forgetting to use that rec button! In first place, we find leaderboard newcomer, NikT77!

While you were reading this entry, Mike Hazen lured Jarrod Saltalamacchia out of retirement to be tonight’s starting pitcher. In second place, we find our only repeat visitor to the podium, surosete!

*Offer does not apply to Blake Swihart or Yasmany Tomas. In third place, our second newcomer of the week, piratedan7!

Seriously.

And now for the updated standings! And this week, I even remembered to rearrange everyone after updating their scores!

PYW first half standings

Contestant Scores
Contestant Scores
Jack Sommers 17
Diamondhacks 15
preston.salisbury 12
surosete 10
Rockkstarr12 7
NikT77 6
Makakilo 4
piratedan7 3

Other than me actually putting them in the correct order, no change in the top three. Their second place finish puts surosete just outside, however. In fact, pretty much everyone is just one strong week out of the top three.

In case you haven’t noticed, the Dbacks aren’t terrible! In fact, so far, they’re pretty good! For the majority of us, this is rather unexpected. Some might foolishly say it’s because of unexpected players overachieving. Others also might foolishly say it’s because the team that ended up being pretty well balanced. But you know the truth. You know what under the table deals with the devil Hazen and company made to make this season happen. Here’s your chance. Tell us what really happened. Go!
