Spring Training Gameday Thread, #32: 3/25 vs. White Sox

New, comments

Hello, Chase Field. It’s been a while...

MLB: San Diego Padres at Arizona Diamondbacks Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Tonight will be the first time the team gets to play on the new artificial turf installed at Chase Field over the winter. It’ll be interesting to see how that goes. Jack is at the game, and at the risk of slightly stealing his thunder, mentioned that the “splashing” he wrote about at Salt River seems to be happening on the field at Chase as well. Something to keep an eye on tonight. Or at least, listen out for, since this game is on the radio, ESPN Phoenix 620 AM.

Again, interesting to see how close this line-up will be compared to the one we see on Opening - now less than 72 hours away - in Los Angeles. Probably hard to be sure, with tonight;s White Sox starter, Erwin Santana, being a right-hander. We’ll be facing a southpaw in Hyun-Jin Ryu on Thursday, which might make a difference: especially at 1B, we could well see Christian Walker or Wilmer Flores start instead of Jake Lamb.
