Is it just me, or has spring training this year gone by quicker than it has seemed in previous seasons? Usually, the last two weeks drag, but here we are, with just the two exhibition games at Chase Field to go after today. Perhaps it helps that the team seems to have got through with no major health issues - touch wood on that, considering that it was during those Chase Field games that A.J. Pollock broke his elbow. But. so far, T.J. McFarland is about the only significant name that we know won’t be on the roster. There was one further roster move today, Robbie Scott being optioned to Triple-A, thinning slightly the contenders for the back of the bullpen.

We’ve see what Zack Godley can do, in his final tune-up. It hasn’t been the best of springs for Zack, though he has seen limited action - this will be just his fourth Cactus League outing, the previous three covering only 7.1 innings. But he has a mediocre K:BB ratio of 6:4 in that time, with a couple of home-runs allowed. I suspect we’re going to see more of this inconsistency during the regular season from Godley: he’ll be fine, and then the wheels will fall off, from one inning to the next. Hopefully, he can reduce the frequency and length of those “slumps,” and achieve mostly good, repeatable mechanics.
