Here are the second batch of candidates for Play of the Year. This selection covers catcher, first- and second-base. The winner will go onto the final vote, which will take place next week.
Walker starts a DP in the 9th (08/31)
Christian Walker makes a diving stop on a grounder by Matt Beaty, then throws to second to start a double play, with the bases loaded in the top of the 9th inning.
Lamb makes catch at the railing (08/21)
Jake Lamb makes a catch at the railing in foul territory, retiring Trevor Story for the second out in the top of the 3rd inning
Kelly’s great late catch (08/10)
Carson Kelly stays focused on the ball and retires A.J. Pollock after the ball hits the knob of his bat and pops up in the 11th inning. [Maybe not the most spectacular, but certainly among the most enjoyable! Just look at Pollock’s face...]
D-backs turn 2 to end the 7th (05/30)
Ildemaro Vargas catches a sharp liner by Daniel Murphy, then throws to Nick Ahmed at second to double off Trevor Story
Flores’ impressive bunt defense (04/28)

Flores’ great play up the middle (04/07)
Wilmer Flores fields a grounder up the middle and makes a terrific throw while on the run, getting Eduardo Nunez out at first base
